SOLO Presentation Requirements | |
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
| ♪ | Video or DVD Presentation of an Abbreviated Ballet Class of | |
| | 10—15 minutes or 15—20 minutes duration. | |
| | Portray the dancer in simple practice clothes. | |
| | An Abbreviated Ballet Class with a range of barre and center exercise | |
| | and, for girls, pointe work for conclusion. | |
| | Pointe work, as it is appropriate for her age and development. | |
| | It is up to the discretion of her ballet teacher. | |
| | The principle consideration is never quantitative. Less is more — | |
| | is an enduring principle of academic theatrical dancing — classical ballet. | |

| ♪ | The Two Classical Variations maybe presented on the same Video or DVD — | |
| | following the Abbreviated Ballet Class. If the ballet teacher/ballet coach chooses, | |
| | the Two Classical Variations can be presented three times: | |
| | First, in simple practice clothes, in ballet studio or stage setting; | |
| | Second, in costume, in ballet studio or stage setting; | |
| | Third, in ballet performance. | |
| | The First and the Second are the requirements! The Third, is an option! | |
| | Please, make certain, that at all times, the full proportion of the dancer is seen. | |
| | * Please, Note: Dancers of the youngest age divisions, Junior 1 and Junior 2 | |
| | may perform the Variations On or Off Pointe. | |
| | It is up to the discretion of the ballet teacher/ballet coach. | |

| ♪ | It is encouraged for the PAS DE DEUX participants | |
| | to Register also for the SOLO Category — | |
| | so the jury will have the opportunity to learn of their individual qualities. | |
| | If the dancers and their ballet teacher/ballet coach choose, | |
| | the Classical Pas de Deux — Adagio and Coda — can be presented three times: | |
| | First, in simple practice clothes, in ballet studio or stage setting; | |
| | Second, in costumes, in ballet studio or stage setting; | |
| | Third, in ballet performance. | |
| | The First and the Second are the requirements. The Third is an option. | |

DUO ▪ TRIO Presentation Requirements: | |

♪ | The DUO ▪ TRIO Categories are attractive choices for | |
| | ballet directors, teachers and coaches. | |
| | The Classical Repertoire List includes the beloved ballets of centuries. | |
| | The various divertissements of ballets, | |
| | such as The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake are | |
| | rewarding for dancers to perform as well as for audiences to see. | |
| | It displays the young dancers’ inherent qualities, | |
| | and are effective vehicles in their progress. | |
| | If the ballet directors, teachers and coaches choose, | |
| | the Duo or the Trio can be presented three times: | |
| | First, in simple practice clothes, in ballet studio or stage setting; | |
| | Second, in costumes, in ballet studio or stage setting; | |
| | Third, in ballet performance. | |
| | The First and the Second are the requirements. The Third is an option. | |
| | Please, make certain, that at all times, the full proportion of the dancers are seen. | |
| | Please, note: One ideal choreographic vehicle for Junior 1 and Junior 2 ages is | |
| | the Vainonen Pas de Trois from Act II of The Nutcracker. | |
| | It is counted as a TRIO, because of it’s length. | |

ENSEMBLE 1 ▪ ENSEMBLE 2 Presentation Requirements: | |

♪ | One of the most attractive choices for ballet directors, teachers and coaches is, | |
| | to present their young dancers as an artistic entity, a ballet ensemble, a ballet company. | |
| | To share with the world the unique aesthetic atmosphere | |
| | of their ballet community, ballet school. | |
| | The greatest joy in ballet is to share the joy of dancing! | |
| | It is a power that the world cannot withstand! | |
| | Nothing in the world gives finer expression for this inspiration | |
| | then ballet’s classical repertoire. | |

♪ | Your ballet ensemble can choose sections of the classical repertoire, | |
| | and present them to the world. | |
| | Choose the Snow Scene or the Waltz of the Flowers. | |
| | The Act II of The Nutcracker is sometimes described as the Festival of Joy! | |
| | Consider Swan Lake — any ensemble section. | |
| | Consider The Sleeping Beauty — any ensemble section. Consider Paquita. | |
